I N N E R B E A U T Y
Unlike it's tittle, Inner Beauty is a series, about society, and how it tends to value appearances, outside beauty, instead of what a person makes of themselves, with gold and other precious materials explicitly representing this set of desirability, importance and value.
Take for instance the third, Kintsukuroi or “golden repair". The Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer and gold. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. Much like the wounds, scars or experiences a person has, shouldn’t be motive of disguise, but of embracing, appreciation and honor.
